Linda M. Strother-Lyons Scholarship
A proud mother of two Salem State Alumni, Mrs. Linda Marie Strother-Lyons, was all about her family and the community. She was the matriarch of her family and a pillar within her community of Boston, MA. She was a Boston Police Officer for over 30 years and was heavily involved in the community working with the children, the elderly, and anyone that reached out for a helping hand. She also participated in and hosted many community events, which is why she was able to impact so many individuals and families. She worked so hard that she could put her two daughters, Linda Lyons and Virginia Lyons, through school, with no loans. However, she understood, just as well as her daughters, that not everyone has the opportunity to do so.
The Lyons family wishes to honor its legacy of Linda by encouraging friends and family to support the students at Salem State University. This scholarship will help a student demonstrating the values of Linda M. Strother Lyons: community-oriented, criminal justice, and human services.
