For more than a decade, Salem State has sent political science students to work as interns in the Washington, D.C. offices of members of U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Students who are selected for the internship received academic credit, but more importantly, an unparalleled experience working in the front lines of the political arena. Salem State students, who have served as Congressional interns, have benefited immeasurably from the program. They have gone on to elected office, Fulbright Scholarships, campaigns, graduate school, law school and other significant achievements. These interns also have enriched our student body as they share their experiences with classmates in class discussions and with the larger campus community upon their return.
Each year, 1-2 stipends are awarded to provide financial support during their internship. To be eligible to apply, a student must:
