Student-Faculty Research in Chemistry

A student-faculty research project is a high impact practice that allows a student to engage in scholarship at a level that opens doors for presentations at scientific conferences, publication, graduate school, industry and education. With significant growth of the Chemistry Major at Salem State University in recent years, demand for research opportunities has exceeded our budget to support them. We welcomed 35 new Chemistry Majors in the Fall of 2015- it would be amazing to have the funds to allow for 35 students to participate in student-faculty research! Goal $3,500.

Our students have presented their research at our own Undergraduate Research Exhibition, State-wide Undergraduate Research Conferences, as well as research venues at Bridgewater State University, the National American Chemical Society Meeting, PittConn and many other places.

We seek to defray the costs to the students (and the department) by being able to supply at least $100 worth of research supplies, conference fees and poster supplies to help make engaging in undergraduate research accessible to everyone.

Choose a giving level

$10

Atomic Level

The building blocks of any research endeavor will include supplies. Even $10 can help get the glassware and consumable supplies necessary for student research.

$100

Molecules

Once we put the pieces together we have something significant. Purchasing consumable supplies and helping to defray the costs of conference registration fees and poster supplies will make it possible for students to conduct their research and present it in a professional setting.

$300

Polymers

We have a lot of great students who are engaging in quality undergraduate research, can you support more than one?
