Our Purpose
The Bertolon School of Business utilizes a Peer Mentor program to serve all students in peer to peer academic mentoring and registration. This service allows students to engage in conversations around classes, plans of study, and general business of being a student. This project aims to include a part of the conversation that impacts the students experience through internships and career development.
Our Goal
We are seeking to raise funds to expand our current Peer Mentor program through a collaboration with Career Services. The funds raised would give Peer Mentors the opportunity to cross train with Career Services. This will allow the Peer Mentors to not only advise on a student’s plan of study, but also engage students in a career development conversation that will lead to increased participation in internships and the job search. This augmentation of the staff will transform the Peer Mentors into Peer Career Fellows, who will be trained to provide a more holistic approach when mentoring other students in the Bertolon School of Business. The Peer Career Fellow would be able to visit classes and speak about career readiness, put together programming, such as Dress for Success, etiquette dinners, and networking events, advise on resume building, aid in the internship and job search process, and guide the student on their path towards success after graduation.
