Career Services's mission is to provide comprehensive career search resources for undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni. We provide opportunities by facilitating connections between students and employers through employer engagement. One of the engagement activities is student tours, where students have an opportunity to see what it's like to work in a particular industry, network with professionals, and learn about opportunities in a real world setting. We need funds to support this project that aids student preparedness for the world of work.
Between the 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 fiscal years, our student site visits have increased from 3 to 5 across a variety of industries from public relations, technology, operations, food retail, and biotechnology. The number of student participants have increased from 44 to 61, a 39% increase in student participation. This fall, we have already hosted two student site visits to the Omni Parker House Hotel and Johnson O'Connor Feron & Carucci with a total of 27 students participating from the School of Business.
Did you know we already have a tour confirmed this spring to Verizon Wireless' Innovation Center in Waltham, MA and with the Omni Parker House Hotel for next fall? Faculty and students have expressed an interest in additional tours to take place during spring break in the robotics, hospitality, and public relations sectors.
We need your help to continue to expand this mutually beneficial offering to our students and employer partners!
