Our Crowdfunding Groups
Why am I doing this? Well,
1) our Center for Creative Arts production budget has been cut by about one third.
2) with the demolition of the interior of the "Mainstage Auditorium" to make way for the renovation to the "Sophia Gordon Center for the Arts" all the wonderful dungeon storage was reduced by over half. There isn't all that plentiful stock.
3) with all of the productions taking place in the 90 seat Callan Studio Theatre, our generated revenue from ticket sales is about one third of what we would get with performances in the 700 seat Mainstage.
We used to send 2 Irene Ryan Candidates and their partners from each production to the Regional Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival; but now we send 1 Candidate and their partner and we also send designers, stage managers, directors, and dramaturgs.
The "early bird" registration for the festival is now $80 per student and faculty member. The cost of the hotel rooms is now about $130 per room per night. The festival is now 5 days instead of just 4 days. We would also like to support the festival participants with a little bit of cash so they can eat and pay for gas. The festival is in Western Connecticut this year.
Salem State University started crowdfunding so we can raise some much need funds to support our endeavors. There are about 35 different participants in this adventure and the group that raises the most money gets an additional $1500. The group that has the most donors/contributors gets an additional $1500. Let's see the Theatre Department go for the gold and get an additional $3000. Give what you can. Be an "audience" member, or be on the "crew" if you can. If you are an "actor" you are cast! Feel free to be a "designer or stage manager", a "director", or even a "producer".

You are the best. You help make everything happen. You are the carpenters, electricians, properties artists, seamstresses and tailors, painters, and all important run crews. What would we do without you?

You are a visionary. You create stage pictures through the work of the actors and designers to bring the words of the playwright to life.
An investor in our production. You realize the full potential of the actors auditioning and the designers, stage managers, directors, and dramaturgs presenting their work and are willing to support them.
