Sixteen dance students from the Music and Dance Department will attend the New England Region's American College Dance Association Conference (ACDA) held at Middlebury College, VT from March 25 - 29. This conference immerses students into the dance world, exposing them to new ideas, challenging them to experiment beyond their comfort zone, and allows them to make connections among their peers at other colleges. Students participate in a wide range of dance classes throughout the conference ranging from dance technique to dance making to performance.
This year, dances by junior dance majors Anastasia Wade and Molly Quinn will be performed in the adjudicated concert, and senior Linnea Thorne will perform a solo in the informal concert. Renowned dance professionals will critique the students' work, offering thoughtful feedback on the choreography and performances. Students will also attend dance concerts consisting of work performed by fellow students at the conference.
Salem State University has attended ACDA since 2008, and each year it has made a tremendous impact on the educational experience and growth of each student. ACDA is a critical networking opportunity that can offer an early stepping stone to a meaningful career in the dance field.
Your support will go towards each student's $145 registration fee and $640 hotel stay for four nights. Help us meet our $5,000 goal for all sixteen dancers!
